Hand Foot and Mouth: The rash you described sounds like hand foot and mouth disease. This is caused by a virus, and will usually last for about a week. You can treat your child's pain or fever with Tylenol (acetaminophen) and Motrin, and it is very important that you child remain hydrated, so give frequent fluids (water or Pedialyte). You should see your pediatrician if difficulty breathing, lethargy or dehydration develop.

Roseola?: Sounds like the baby has roseola, this is a viral syndrome where Jan would spike a high fever for a few days and then at the end after the fever breaks, would break out in a rash like you describe. The only other possibility is if he is allergic to the antibiotic he got for his ear infection. If the rash seems very itchy then call your pediatrician, to be seen for a possible allergic rash. :)
