Could be mono: The combination of leukopenia (low white blood cell count) and monocytosis (high monocytes count) is suggestive of a viral infection (Epstein Barr) called mononucleosis. Mononucleosis can cause fatigue, muscle and joint aches, headache, sore throat and rarely enlargement of the spleen. Symptoms can last for weeks, but usually it does not cause any significant long-term effects.
