Fever is not harmful: First determine the cause. If your child looks ill, get her checked by a doctor. If child does not appear ill and has no associated worrisome symptoms the need to lower the fever will be for comfort measures and to prevent dehydration. Fever is not generally harmful, a temp of 101.6 can be effectively managed with hydration and rest.
