Really can't say...: There are myriad reasons for a teenager to have fever. An on and off fever for 2 months as you describe can be difficult enough to determine the cause even when examined in the office. In my opinion your daughter needs to see her doctor soon. Urine tests and blood tests will probably be required to answer the question that you pose because of the length of her fever. Please call your pediatrician.

A number of ...: In comparison to adults, children with prolonged fever have much better outcome and are much less likely to have rheumatologic or neoplastic conditions. She'll require detailed history, thorough exam, and lab works to sort out the cause (s).
