See a psychiatrist.: Klonopin is an anxiety medication belonging to the benzodiazepine family and are supposed to be used for a short time only although some have been known to use it longer. Lexapro (escitalopram) maybe given for longer periods of time , sometimes a lifetime and it is safe as long as a doctor supervises its use.
