I have gad and depression, why does my doc want me to take elavil (amitriptyline) during the day and before bed instead of just before bed? many thanks

Duration : The duration of action of Amitriptyline is ~18 hours and is usually dosed once daily. Using it twice a day may be to prevent side effects. Please ask your doctor why this is being done in your case.
