Have had stomach flu for 5 days. no vomiting but everything else. should i take ppi to counter bad heartburn or is acid needed to fight infection?

PPI's take: to long to be effective. Try taking OTC H-2 Blocker (eg PEPCID (famotidine) AC) plus a liquid antacid but AVOID MAGNESIUM (eg Maalox) this may cause diarrhea! Hope this helps BTW Acid does NOT fight the infection!
