MR arthrogram: There are two kinds of contrast. Injecting contrast into the joint beside the kneecap will help look for tears of the meniscus or cartilage. Injecting contrast into an arm vein will help look for infection or tumor around the knee. It just depends what your doc is looking for. The needles used are thin, so they don't really hurt, honestly. Let us know if you need help reviewing your MR results.
