Mirena (levonorgestrel): Mirena (levonorgestrel) typically causes shorter and lighter periods. It does not change the length of time from one to the next except in those who do not have periods at all on it. Once it is removed you will quickly return to your normal pattern of menstrual cycles. If you are trying to conceive the IUD will need to be removed
