A member asked:

I havent had a period since i had the mirena removed over a year ago. i took a hpt and it showed positive. is the test accurate or should i make an a?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Likely valid: The HPT turns positive when it detects chemicals created by the placental mass. These tests are more likely false negative than positive. I would schedule a visit to verify the pregnancy. You can repeat it again if you wish, but it is likely valid.
