Can cause bleeding: Irregular bleeding is a common and normal side effect of nexplanon. For some bleeding occurs less frequently than your normal cycle. For others more frequently. Since this is a distinct change in your pattern of bleeding it is a good idea to have an exam. STD testing and a pelvic exam for things like cervical polyps should be ruled out before assuming it is Nexplanon breakthrough bleeding
