RCT: Antibiotics alone will not resolve the problem with the tooth. It may limit the spread of infection or control it somewhat temporarily. Call your dentist and ask to be seen sooner. If it really hurts badly and you can't wait and your dentist can't see you in a timely manner, find another dentist.
