Hi, so taking too many tums for heartburn is not good but also taking otc zantac (ranitidine) for periods longer than 14 days is not good. what other meds are safe?

The PPIs.: OTC medications like Prilosec or Prevacid (lansoprazole) are stronger than what you have been taking. But the fact remains that if your symptoms are not relieved after a week or two of medication you need to see a doctor to confirm your diagnosis and see if any formal investigative testing may be needed.
