A member asked:

My carbon dioxide level is 29. no smoking/asthma. should i be worried? potassium was a 3.3 and calcium was a 10.1 due to diuretic. what do i do?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

See below: Elevated CO2 (aka metabolic alkalosis) also most likely related to your diuretic and, as an isolated abnormality, is nothing to be overly concerned about. Low potassium and high calcium, glucose, uric acid, and CO2 are amongst the most common side effects and lab abnormalities to occur due to diuretic therapy. You should discuss these results with your MD along with potassium supplementation.
