A member asked:

Hypoparathyriodism...any new studies for hope? 24 pills a day is taxing. cacitriol, calcium, fish oil, water pill to absorb, multi vit., potasium.

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Yes, a few options: Sorry to hear- that is a lot of pills. Take calcium citrate with your meals since acid will increase absorption. Discuss with your endocrinologist whether low dose Chlorthalidone (to lower urinary calcium loss, so maybe u can cut down # of calcium pills- very cheap), or Forteo (injected, synthetic parathyroid hormone, but very expensive). Either way, switching regimen req close calcium monitoring.
