A 41-year-old male asked:
do atrophic retinal holes caused by lattice retinal degeneration produce any symptoms if no traction? how to tell if new one / when to go in?

No symptoms. flash: Atrophic Holes usually cause no symptoms. Flashing lights in the peripheral vision often indicates retinal traction which increases one's risk of retinal tear especially in patients with lattice degeneration and atrophic holes. Increased flashes and floaters are an indication for peripheral retina exam by a qualified ophthalmologist.
