A member asked:

My retinal doc told me today that doing a laser for lattice may precipitate traction even if there is negligible traction before the procedure. true?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Second opinion: Lattice is nature's way of tacking down the retina to lower the incidence of detachment at a weak point. Laser would only be need if the retina shifts at that point or a hole seems to be coming on. Laser should not add to that risk but should be helpful. If your doc said the risk would increase, then that is a good indication for getting a second opinion on the need for this.
