Focus on OCD: treatment. Medication may play a part but yo need to see a clinical psychologist who specializes in OCD. The blanket situation is a symptom, not the real issue. Let your doctors and therapists be your conscience for you for a while. Peace and good health.

Set limits of care: discuss with someone you trust. Agree on a cleaning procedure...exactly what detergent to use, any pre-cleaner etc. Write down a list of exactly what will be done to clean the blanket. Ask family members to sign on with the plan, and voice their satisfaction with the plan. Then do the plan. Then things will be OK and you can cross this off your list and devote your attention to other things.

Treatment ASAP: Please see a psychiatrist for medication management and who will also be able to refer you to a therapist. For your OCD and anxiety, you’ll very likely need both medications and therapy, which sound like they will be a better option for you than either one alone. Good luck!
