Yes: I would leave most of this up to the treating eye doc, yet there is some risk if you don't.That much difference in the clarity of the eyes can cause the brain to selectively stop looking through the weak eye. If the brain stops looking for long enough, you lose vision in the weak eye.This is what is called amblyopia.
