A child at risk for : amblyopia needs to be evaluated by a Pediatric Ophthalmologist, an M.D. who specializes in eye diseases of childhood. The risk of amblyopia diminishes as a child reaches 8-10 years, as it occurs during critical periods of development.

Standard care: If the brain receives 2 different images from the eyes, it will eventually turn off the fuzzier or misdirected image to end brain confusion.Over time this can mean permanent vision loss in that eye, also called amblyopia. Once the vision is turned off the eye may begin to drift, causing a misalignment. Get a 2nd opinion if you need to, but this is important.
