Normal: Nexplanon is a progesterone only contraceptive method. Progesterone only methods do not make you have regular periods. Bleeding can be absent, prolonged or random and sometimes will just be a little spotting or brown discharge. All of these are normal on Nexplanon. They usually become less frequent with time. I have the nexplanon in my arm for birth control so I rarely have periods. I just finished a period 7-14 days ago. I am not bleeding again and the blood is dark red almost brown and has large clots of tissue in it. The flow is otherwise low for me.
My nexplanon was inserted about a year ago today. No period since my date of insertion. I am on doxycycline and this morning I woke up to a period which varies from light pink/ red. Is this normal? Does implant still work? Am I at risk for pregnancy?
