Follow action plan: All patients should have asthma action plan to follow if their asthma flares. Treatment of acute asthma (day or night) is albuterol (quick relief) medication. If there is not a good response within about 30 minutes then most action plans suggest repeating the dose. If still not better, contact doctor and/or go to er for evaluation. If night symptoms happen >2 x a month, see doctor for new plan.
