several factors increase risk. female, older age, repetitive activity requiring high force, medical conditions such as diabetes and hypothyroidism or other conditions which can lead to tissue swelling. trauma to the wrist. and there can even be a genetic predisposition.

Main risk factor is repetitive hand wrist flexion/ extension such as repetitive keyboarding, assembly line work, and, sorry guys, weight lifting reps! Sure, medical problems increase risk. It is a tenosynovitis that is tough to reverse. Agree with my superb colleagues
