Not common: In all my years of practice i never saw a child or teenager with cts. It can happen with wrist fractures but have never seen. Also a tendon sheath infection in the hand could cause it. But me no experience.

Yes: Yes younger patients can get carpal tunnel syndrome. Typically if a teenager has cts there is a genetic predisposition and the parents and or other siblings often have or have been treated for cts. I have personally treated 2 teenagers for cts and they all have had a significant family history as well as activity that exacerbated the symptoms such as being musicians.
