Many causes: An allergy to food or medication. A reaction to an internal problem such as liver or kidney. Persistent itching requires blood tests. It is alsonpossible to have itching from an atypical case of scabies where it is difficult to find mites. Treatment with Elimite (permethrin) one application is safe as part of treatment, just in case.

Allergy: Agree with Dr. W. Whole body itching is likely to have a systemic cause rather than a local one like scabies. It is not feasible to provide a meaningful opinion without examining you. If over the counter anti-histaminic medication does not provide relief, it would be prudent to see your doctor.
