Yes: C diff is a member of our normal gut flora but in small quantity. The rest of bacteria predominates but this normal flora its destroyed by antibiotics. There is some evidence that taking probiotics - lactobacillus ramosus - along with antibiotics, can protect against C diff overgrowth and symptoms.
