Entopic phenomena: More than likely, the black and white dots that you are observing are the normal white blood cells coursing through your retinal arteries. These can be well seen by lying still and looking at a well-lit background, like the sky or a light colored ceiling. Little dots that flit about and disappear are actually individual white blood cells moving through your retinal blood vessels. This is normal
