Opthalmologist: Worsening vision and problems with seeing dots, floaters or dark patches can indicate a degenerative disorder of the eye. Opthalmologists (eye doctors) are specialized in diseases of the eye. They can help evaluate, diagnose and treat eye problems involving the cornea, retina and substructures. They can also refer to a Neurologist for problems involving the optic nerve.
