Depends: One of the jobs a newborn must do in the first month is setting the frequency & depth of breathing to match changes in activity.This is often seen as a variable speed up & slow down to the point of pausing.A kid that is feeding well & otherwise thriving is probably just doing this.If the kid struggles with feeds it may indicate a problem.
