Newborn babies: can be jumpy for several reasons. I would recommend you have him checked by his doctor, so you can make sure he is OK and you can alleviate some of your anxiety about him...and then be able to enjoy him more!

Startle reflex: it could be an exaggerated startle reflex but anytime there is a concern about breathing I would recommend a physician examine your infant. If nothing is found wrong then reassurance that your child is okay will also help your anxiety.
