A 43-year-old female asked:

Can you best describe what "rolling" an ankle means?

Dr. Scott Keith
Podiatry 44 years experience
Roll the bones....: Rolling the ankle occurs when the foot takes a misstep that results in the outside of the ankle to loose it's supportive function. This rolling over allows weight to be born temporarily on the outside of the foot. The rolling over action can result in anything from a simple strain or sprain to a much more serious ankle joint disruption.
Dr. Jeffrey Kass
Podiatry 28 years experience
Usually: refers to spraining it…..an injury where the foot turns down and then sideways…(plantar flexion and inversion)
