I have painful glands in my neck but no other symptoms of illness. it hurts slightly to turn my head and hurts when i press down on the glands.

Likely inflammatory: Hi Sarah, Painful lymph nodes or glands in the neck are usually indicative of infection or reaction to an infection in another part of the head and neck. These lymph nodes are responsible for producing white blood cells to help you fight infection. If you are not suffering from other symptoms, I'd give them some time to resolve. If not, see your doctor for a more complete exam
