Swollen lymph nodes: Swollen lumps in the neck in the areas you're describing are typically lymph nodes that have enlarged due to either an infection, inflammation or tumor. Hurting to move your neck or coughing is because of the location near nerves. This problem needs attention. Seek medical assistance soon with a doctor. Antibiotics and other tests may be required.
