What for?: Diphenhydramine is the generic name for the antihistamine with the brand name of Benadryl (diphenhydramine). It is generally taken every 6 hours and its main side effect in 2/3 of patients is they feel tired. In general there is no contraindication for you to avoid it after surgery per se.
