A member asked:

I've gotten fever blisters since a kid i know it's herpes right but does that mean every time i get one does that mean i can get bell's palsy? panic

Not necessarily: We believe Bell's palsy is secondary to herpes simplex, but this virus is already present in most human bodies in the dorsal root ganglion. Activation causing lip inflammation has little to do with an effect on the facial nerve. If you are in "panic" due to your concerns, best to get some counseling to cope better.
