I think you can try: and if and when you get pain if you do stop. In meantime I would make sure to stretch your achilles and wear arch supports when working out.

Go for it.....: I have had many patients over the years that developed heel pain, typical of plantar fasciitis, while exercising on a treadmill. Stopping the treadmill was imperative for the heel pain to stop. Elliptical trainers , by their nature, offer a reduced strain of the foot with subsequently reducing the chances of developing fascial heel pain.
