If open wounds: Hand eczema responds best to topical anti-inflammatory or steroid creams/ointments. Mupirocin is an antibacterial ointment that is usually reserved in eczema patients for open wounds as a results of scratching because those can get infected, or for wounds that are already infected.

Allergies: 85% of children with eczema under a year will have associated food allergies. Imy first suggestion is to get off dairy or milk based formulas. If you are breastfeeding, then mom please stop milk. Many children also benefit from probiotics (good bacteria) to provide proper gut balance. I also recommend cod liver oil. 6 months- 12 months 1/4 tsp/ day; 12-24 months 1/2 tsp a day; 2-5 years 1 tsp/day.

Possibly: The eyes are very sensitive, and almost anything can be an irritant. That being said, their own saliva would be unlikey to cause any serious problems.

Several Options: If you recentry injured the area of concern, then a tendon injury is possible. If not. You could have developed a ganglion cyst which tends to be common in the wrist and hand. I would have a physician examine it to find out what would be the next step.

Doc needs to examine: Many skin conditions are difficult to diagnose without being seen. Some preventive measures: take warm showers (hot ones strip natural oils; baths do likewise); moisturize immediately after shower; if in sun or wind, moisturize & use sunblock; avoid strong soaps/body washes.
