A member asked:

I read that cinnamon contains coumarin which can damage the liver. should i stop adding cinnamon to my food?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Coumarin-liver: Coumadin (warfarin) is an anticoagulant - a blood thinner. In liver disease patients, as already they have defective coagulating proteins which are formed by the liver, they have bleeding tendency and in such patients coumadin (warfarin) rich foods will increase bleeding tendency. For example if you are an alcoholic, have liver disease caused by alc. abuse , then you have to restrict the coumadin (warfarin) rich foods.
