In the line of fire.: Trauma comes in all flavors. The fact that the little toe is where it's at offers it more low grade, unassuming trauma than the other toes. It takes only a minimal amount of pressure, applied over a longer period to traumatize the nail, nail nail or nail root. Give it it some time and see what develops before suspecting something worse.
