Asymptomatic STDs: Some STDs last for several years, others do not. Herpes lasts for life; HPV for a few months to years; gonorrhea and chlamydia typically are clecared by the immune system within several months. Hepatitis B is often sexually transmitted, but hepatitis A and C generally not except in men who have sex with other men. Many people with STDs have no symptoms.
