A member asked:

Lower intestine started hurting last night. large amount of diharrhea 30 min after pain started. now having small chunks of stringy red blood come out?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Colitis: Symptoms are consistent with an inflammatory process involving the colon. The colitis with bleeding is best evaluated by a gastroenterologist who will most likely perform a gentle sigmoidoscopy without any preparation because of fear of further irritating the colon. This may reveal ulcerative colitis or simply a nonspecific colitis with bleeding. You should consult a gastroenterologist asap.
