A member asked:

Is there another reasons for atherosclerosis in arteries not in veins except the shear stress and high pressure in arteries than in veins ?

You're on the right: track. Atherosclerosis is the development of plaque in arteries that form as the result of injury to the blood vessel wall. The artery, not vein, wall is subject to this initial insult because of blood pressure and shear stress as you suggest. After the injury, then fatty material (cholesterol) and healing cells (macrophages) clump together. The muscular artery wall compensates/thickens: plaque.
