Many etiologies: Unlikely to be rheumatoid arthritis. More likely a clotting problem. If you are taking estrogen-progesterone birth control pill, then stop it for now. Get blood drawn for d dimer, CBC and diff, factor v leiden, prothrombin gene mutations, factors viii, xi, and lupus anticoagulant.
