It is possible: In my practice the usual time frame I see dry sockets occurring is within the first 2-5 days following surgery. You are within that window where a dry socket can occur. The amount you smoke, as well as other activities may increase the risk.

Dry socket: You are still in the time frame where dry socket can occur and smoking is one of the big causative factors. You will know if you have a dry socket because you will have severe pain. If this happens call the extracting doctor and get this treated ASAP.

It's possible: Smoking will retard healing. May precipitate an infection, a dry socket. Will prematurely age your facial skin. Will facilitate onset or exacerbate severity of gum disease. Will increase risk of stroke, heart attack, kidney dysfunction. And smoking CAUSES mouth, throat, esophagus, and lung cancer, requiring diseased tissues to be cut away. Please don't seek approbation.
