Dry Socket: A dry socket occurs when the blood clot that formed in the extraction site is dislodged. This can occur with almost any action that disturbs the site. Refrain from gargling, rinsing, drinking through a straw, and smoking during the healing process. Normal swallowing usually does not cause any problems.

Be patient: tooth extraction is a surgical procedure and is not completely risk-free. Pain, swelling, bad breath and infection following surgery is usually at its worst 24 – 48 hours after surgery. After that it should subside more and more every day and after 7 days stop. If concerned, see your surgeon for evealuation and x-rays. Good luck.
