A member asked:

What is discogenic pain & is it worth notifying my benefit people? i am struggling with everyday tasks; short walks cause alot of pain.

Disk: Discogenic pain is caused by an intervertebral disc that bulges or ruptures and presses on a nerve root causing pain often in the buttock and leg. Spinal stenosis can cause leg pain on walking and usually affects older people. An MRI of the lumbosacral spine is required to differentiate the conditions and a neurosurgeon is best qualified to evaluate and advise you..

Discogenic pain: hello ~ it means pain emanating from the intervertebral discs in the spinal column. I have seen this described by radiologists when no other explanation for the backache is found on Xray, MRI. its flattening of discs. A diagnosis that questions the rationality of doctor and patient. If you have on-going backache, please ask to see a qualified (Board Cert) back doc thanks
