Synovitis: At 31 if you are an athlete, then possible arthritic changes could cause this. Also synovitis is a possibility. You need to be evaluated by an podiatrist or orhtopod. X-rays can further help with what exactly the cause is.

Usually arthtritis: One of the classic signs for arthritis is pain and stiffness of a joint first thing in the morning. Some say it feels like the bone have to get into place. Same symptoms can occur after you have been sitting down for a while.
