Evaluate: This is a common complaint and it is frequently not due to a thyroid problem. I recommend you see a good physician for a work up to rule out reversible causes for the weight gain before taking over the counter meds that you may not need. There are many other causes for weight gain beside a thyroid problem. Sleep apnea is a common culprit.
