Try Heat, NSAID: This may be an inflammation of the cartilage that attaches the ribs to the sternum, or breastbone, called "costochondritis". Sometimes this is caused by upper body workouts or heavy lifting, and it can take weeks to slowly resolve. Try a heating pad to the area, avoid heavy lifting or upper body weights, and try some advil/aleve in safe doses. If symptoms continue, see your doctor.
