Asthma treatment: 23 year old male with asthma and wheezing, complaining of thick mucus. Thick mucus could be a sign of an infection which in turn makes asthma symptoms worse and prolonged. Asthma is a disease that requires prescription therapies like albuterol and inhaled corticosteroids. I wouldn't recommend an antibiotic unless you are seen by a doctor. Often, asthma and infection are confused, needs an exam.
